Why are fireworks going to cost us more money this year? It’s not because of the underlying price of the fireworks themselves as those have only seen modest increases. To arrive at the why prices have gone up, you really only have to look at the recent cost of shipping. When we were importing our fireworks in May and June of 2020 we were paying an average of $12,000 per container in shipping. As we are awaiting our containers this spring, our shipping quotes are near DOUBLE! If an average container has 800 cartons on it then quick math tells you this alone adds $15 per case to the unloaded cost of the firework. A second effect on the price of what we pay for fireworks is dictated by the exchange rate. The US dollar has lost approximately 7% of its value vs the Chinese Yuan a year ago. This means that we are paying 7% more for the fireworks regardless any other mitigating factors. Add to this the greatly reduced supply of available fireworks this season, and we have ourselves a recipe for increased prices!
What can you do to try and minimize these price increases? Super Show Fireworks will be launching a VIP Rewards program for our customers. These rewards will be available both online and in store. We believe the prices we will offer to our VIP Customers can more than offset the increase. Stay tuned to our FB, Instagram, Twitter, and/or YouTube page for a major news release on this VIP Program coming this Spring!
